“One Hand” Book Review
I recently received a copy of the book One Hand, Two Hands by Max Lucado from Tommy Nelson and BookSneeze. In exchange for a copy of the book, I get to read the book with my kids and then tell you about it. This book is a beautiful “giftable” hardback book with dust cover.
Free Magazine – Forbes
Sign up to receive a FREE One-Year Subscription to Forbes. As always, these free magazine subscriptions go quickly.
****Remember, I never give my credit card to something that is supposed to be free. I just signed up for the magazine. After it confirmed my order, it gave me the option of ‘bonus special offers’. I NEVER go through those and just close them out.
Local offer…. Spirit Cards!
Those of you in the Danville area have probably heard of the Spirit Cards that offer discounts for local businesses, restaurants etc.
They cost $10 but offer some pretty good coupons. (My favorite is the 10% off a meal at Chinatown. We don’t eat there often but a 10% savings twice a year is nice).
Also included this year:
Dominos, Applebees 10% off any entree, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Cicis Pizza, KFC, DQ, Long John Silvers, Valvoline, Pet Paradise, Medicine Shoppe and more….
If you are in the Danville/Boyle County area and are interested in buying one, you may contact me or any of the many Hustonville Elementary teachers/parents/staff that read this blog. They will be available for sale until Sept 30.

FREE Ebook Readers
I recently talked to a familiy member who loves to read but is traveling out of the country and doesn’t have access to a local library or her own personal collection of books. So what is the FREE way to read new books? Download ebooks for free of course!
There are several ways to read ebooks. Whether you read on a Kindle, iphone, itouch, computer or other device, you can download a reader to make it easier.
Amazon.com has the Kindle.
Barnes & Noble has the Nook.
Both the Kindle and the Nook have free downloadable apps for all devices (iphone, itouch, ipad, computer…). You just download the app for the device you own, then go to the free ebook link. When you ‘purchase’ a book from either of these stores, the new ebook will automatically be synced up with your portable device. That means you can read it anywhere you are.
Once you download the ebook, you no longer need internet access. The ebook is available anywhere.
You do have to have an account set up for both. It has been so long since I set up my Amazon account that I can’t remember the steps. You will need to have a credit card on file even though nothing will be charged.
Now you have the reader for the ebook, so where do you go to find the free ebooks? Keep reading for links!
How I organize coupons
I’m often asked how I keep up with all my coupons. Everyone has a different way that works for them. That’s the key. Keep your coupons where you can find them.
So here it is……my system.
Step 1 – Big pile on the floor/counter. Straight out of the newspaper ready to cut.

Step 2 – Divide them by category and file in the accordion style folder

Step 3 – File in notebook (I use baseball card holders that my husband had in the closet. When I first started, I used an old photo album.) I sort by category (laundry, toothpaste, shaving, hair, snacks, diapers/pads etc…..) Another friend has hers sorted alphabetically by brand.

Step 4 – Into the coupon bag ready for shopping.

Why do I have so many steps? Because I refuse to spend all my life sorting coupons. I sort them into steps as I have time – sitting in the car line, waiting in the doctors office, watching a movie…….
Do what works for you. Just make sure you can find them when you need them!
Over the next few days I’ll show you how others sort their coupons! Then you can choose what works best for you!

Consumer Village – Surveys for Amazon.com $$$
There are alot of survey sites around that claim to send you surveys and then you get money or gift cards. Alot of them take forever and just aren’t worth my time. I’ve joined many but only participate in a few.
Here is one of my favorites: Consumer Village by Gongos Resarch!
I have received over $25 in Amazon.com gift certificates.
Here’s how you can get started.
- Sign up here.
- You will get survey invitations occasionally in your email box. There aren’t very many per month so it doesn’t flood your account.
- When you take a survey and qualify you will receive tokens in your account.
- As soon as you hit 500 tokens, you get sent a code number worth $5 to deposit in your Amazon.com account.
- Most of the time, even if you don’t qualify for the survey, you will still be given a few tokens just for trying.
*Just a note: Sometimes when I refer you to a company they tell me thanks by giving me referral credits or extra tokens. Not here. This in no way benefits me by you signing up. I just know I love getting the extra gift card $ and I want you to have this opportunity too.
