What a name for a book. My kids have laughed so hard at what I’m reading. My Big Bottom Blessing: How Hating My Body Led to Loving My Life.

About the Book
One woman’s hilarious, yet totally honest battle with body image exposes the secret that loving the girl in the mirror isn’t about changing how you look, but about changing what you see. Teasi Cannon’s lifelong struggle with weight loss not only made her hate her body, but destroyed her marriage and led to an emotional breakdown. Today she’s happy about her bottom, not because the size has changed, but because her perspective has. Her funny, gut-honest insights will inspire millions of women of all ages with body image issues to embrace their value and beauty. They’ll learn to silence their own inner critics, debunk self-sabotaging lies, and get spiritually and emotionally happy. Her book includes an in-depth book club or small group study guide.

About the Author
Teasi (pronounced Tee See) Cannon is married to her best friend, Bill, and they have three awesome children: Carli, Ben, and Sam. Teasi has a master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Liberty Theological Seminary and is a sought-after speaker who loves to help women remember who they are in Christ. –This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

My opinion
This is an incredibly honest look at how many women sabotage their self image and destroy their lives by the inner voices that they listen to. I know that there is no way I would be able to be this honest in any kind of public venue like a book. The author shares so many personal experiences that you feel like you know her. The struggle with weight is an ongoing battle that is being fought on so many fronts in households all around the world. I loved the fact that this book is not about fat vs skinny. I also appreciated the fact that this book does not come to the conclusion that weight is a sin issue.

I picked up this book expecting to read it over the course of a week or two. Instead I read it quickly while I was waiting in the car line. It was a quick easy read that packed so many nuggets of truth. I think this is definitely a book worth reading for anyone who has dealt with weight or self-image issues.

I think the part about her being relatable. I like reading about someone that knows where I’m coming from.

Wow I could really use this book. I love that it’s funny about the whole problem. I suffered greatly in college with body image and was teased terribly in high school by the boyfriend of my best friend about my thighs being too fat. I am still haunted by the name he used to call me and never have liked my thighs. :( I could really use this book!

I enjoyed this book as well, because of her unique perspective on silencing those negative voices in our heads. Rather than just “thinking positive,” she focused on becoming deeply aware of God’s love for her. Knowing she was God’s beloved made it possible for her to love herself.
