Megan asks my suggestions for the best places to camp in the Smoky Mountains.
Cades Cove Campground is my personal favorite.
There are about 10 developed campgrounds in the Great Smoky Mountains. All sites rent for $20 or less.
KOA Townsend is my 2nd choice. It is more expensive but offers more ammenities than the National Park campgrounds. This campground start around $35 per night and goes up depending on your camping equipment and time of stay. This campground has shower facilities, a pool, playground and electric hookup. If you plan to stay at KOA, make sure you look at the KOA Value Card Rewards. It does cost $24 for the rewards card but you get discounts and earn rewards for every time you visit.
