I receently received a copy of Espresso for your Spirit: Hope and Humor for Pooped Out Parents. This is a chapter book that is perfect for parents who need a quick injection of perspective and insight in the middle of crazy, full days.

Each chapter ends with a Power Perk: A Taste of Hope or A Taste of Humor. This page is filled with either a scripture verse to encourage or a short story or quote to help you laugh and gain perspective.

The author, Pam Vredevelt, is a mother and clinical therapist who has written this book with the clear understanding that most parents will pick up the book and read in 5 minute intervals. This is not a book that tells you how to be a good parent or gives you all the answers. Rather it is simply a reflection of her life as a Mom of 3 children (one of which is special needs). She gives you scripture based answers and actual experiences where she has grown. Sometimes they are funny situtations, other times you feel yourself relating to poignant moments, triumphs and tragedies of real parents.

This is a nice, hard-backed book that would look pretty sitting on your coffe table. As an added bonus, when you pick it up and find time to read a page, you will be encouraged to get a cup of Espresso or coffee and remember the creator who gives us hope, humor and laughter in our ‘pooped-out days’.

You can order Espresso for Your Spirit: Hope and Humor for Pooped-Out Parentsfrom Amazon or request it at your local library.

I received a free review copy of Espresso for your Spirit from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing for the purpose of this review.
