Whether you’re buying a stranger a cup of hot chocolate, sharing a tube of toothpaste or giving someone a starter bag of Friendship bread… sometimes all it takes to make a difference in your world is a simple act of kindness!
Last summer I received a copy of Friendship Bread: A Novelby Darian Gee. This book introduces you to a random mix of unrelated residents who live in the city of Avalon. Friendship Bread is the story of betrayal, loss, depression, anger, forgiveness, love, loyalty, and renewal of dreams. Life is hard and doesn’t always make sense, but these strangers become friends and find that sometimes the smallest gestures lead to the strongest bonds.
The first few chapters introduce you to the characters. Then the author Darien Gee begins to weave it all together. This is a compelling story – one that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the way to the end.
Since last summer, I have made quite a few loaves of Friendship Bread. It is a family favorite!
Read the first chapter here….
About the author:
Darien Gee is an author, wife, and mother of three. She’s a Libra Monkey, a chocoholic, and of late, an Amish Friendship Bread addict. A former California resident, Darien served on the board of the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library and ZYZZYVA, an award-winning literary journal.
This book is getting released in paperback on May 1, 2012 and the author Darien Gee is going to send one of you readers one of the first paperback prints!

You can get a chance to win a nook if you write a review of friendship bread.
I read “If you were to ask a real live person who has made Amish Friendship Bread, you might hear something like this: “It’s a gloopy, unappetizing substance in a bag that you mash for ten days before baking the most heavenly bread in the world.””
